Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone: How to Unlock the ISO 9MM SMG

The ISO 9mm joins Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 as a potential threat to the Lachmann Sub & ISO 45 that have long dominated the meta.

The Modern Warfare 2 era of Call of Duty is winding down, but not before Season 6 brings the scares to send it off with a bang. On top of a jam-packed Halloween Event (The Haunting), we’ve also got our final batch of Battle Pass weapons to test out ahead of MW3, and the ISO 9mm is one of three unique pieces this season.

Our new speedy friend will have to edge out an executioner’s row of elite submachine guns if it wants to make any noise at all, but ultra-fast SMGs don’t have a great track record when it comes to climbing the meta. If you’re curious to see if ISO 9mm SMG can break the mode, you’ll have to unlock it for yourself first.

How to unlock the ISO 9MM SMG in Warzone 2.0 & MW2

Like its Assault Rifle compatriot, the TR-76 Geist, the ISO 9mm is a Battle Pass exclusive offering in Season 6, so you’ll have to unlock the free F7 zone to claim it. As always, it’s better to handpick your way through the pass if you’re after the shiny new guns each season, or else you’ll spend a lot of time needlessly grinding for things you’re not after.

This is one of the earlier slots, though, so it won’t take long for you to get your hands on it either way. It’s also worth noting that these new weapons will be making the jump into Modern Warfare 3, so it’s definitely worth grabbing them while they’re simple to unlock right now. Who knows what the process could look like in the future?

Quick Loadout for the ISO 9MM – Warzone 2 & MW2

It can be overwhelming to figure out the right loadout for a new weapon in the days after launch. Everything moves so fast, and everyone claims they’ve found the secret sauce, so we’re not going to do that.

This is just an easy-to-use loadout that brings out the natural power of the gun. We have a more in-depth guide if you’re interested, but for now, think of this one as a plug-and-play.

The VLK LZR 7MW is the most common laser in the game, as it’s typically tuned for the high-octane gameplay that benefits all of this era’s elite SMGs. Hollowpoint Rounds take advantage of the Crippling condition and will help you catch up to the opposition faster. Slapping on the Demo Fade Tac Stock also adds some more pep to your step.

Using the Slimline Pro is just an easy way to replace the gun’s rather bulky iron sights, but you can slap on any optic you prefer in that slot. Keeping the 50 Round Drum is a must, though, as this thing will absolutely chew through that basic clip otherwise.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone – Is The ISO 9MM Worth Using?

The ISO 9MM is backed to the brim with potential, but there's a few roadblocks in its way.

Early signs suggest that the ISO 9MM might have some value in close-up Warzone gunfights, but the Lachmann Sub and ISO 45 are a tough mountain to climb. We’re not ready to say that it’s quite that good, but it absolutely handles business in short-range exchanges.

If you want to get a good read of how viable it can be in Warzone, try jumping into some Ashika Island or Vondel matches. You’ll get plenty of gunfights that don’t mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, and losing the gun on death won’t be nearly as depressing as it is on Al Mazrah.

Vondel is Warzone 2's latest Resurgence map, and preparing loadouts for it is paramount.

For us, the ISO 9MM will probably remain a fun Resurgence option for the time being. We’ve still got Season 6 Reloaded to think about, though, so who knows what the future holds? Those other subs could get nerfed, which would leave a huge vacancy at the top.

It’s also possible that this gun first finds its legs in Modern Warfare 2. It’s truly the perfect weapon for maps like Al Bagra Fortress or Zarqwa Hydroelectric, where there are many opportunities for close-range engagements and sneaky corner plays.

The TR-76 Geist also looks like it has potential. Check out our how-to-unlock guide for that one if you’re looking to do away with the old Kastov-762.
