Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are in for a frightful Fall, as Season 06 is packed to the gills with Halloween-themed playlists, events, cosmetics, and more. Not all of it will be hitting the game right away after the update, as some of it will be bubbling under the surface until we draw closer to Halloween, but there’s a delightful concoction waiting for us when the time is right.
Whether you’re looking forward to slaying the voracious undead on Vondel or hoping to get your hands dirty with a DOOM-themed chainsaw in Al Mazrah, here’s your first taste of everything that the Warzone 2 devs have brewing ahead of All Hallow’s Eve.

Warzone 2: The Haunting Halloween Event Breakdown
Call of Duty’s yearly Halloween event is called The Haunting, and on the Warzone side, players will be surviving Operation: Nightmare. This is the codename given to the festivities that kick off on October 17, and according to the Roadmap, there will be plenty to keep players busy for the following weeks.
“Entities have been detected throughout the AO, and the [[REDACTED]] of each encounter will be referenced on your Tac-Map,” the blog reads. “You must investigate each location and eliminate the “Most Wanted” Target, as well as any other hostiles. Initial recon: A bounty has been offered on a number of [[REDACTED]] targets, and rewards for exceptional bravery may result in [[REDACTED]], as well as a Mastery Weapon Blueprint.”
All of this falls in line with the appearance of Eldritch beings around the map thanks to Dark Ritual Operators opening something called a Hellmouth, which is the in-universe reason for the arrival of Todd McFarlane’s Spawn-Universe characters.
Al Mazrah isn’t the only map getting some love, though, as Vondel (appropriately renamed Vondead) is taking up a ton of spotlight in this event. Not only is Lockdown returning with a mystical makeover, but Zombie Royale (the game mode variant where players become the undead after they’re eliminated) will be playable on both maps.
Warzone 2 Halloween Event New Features & Mechanics
The rest of the update will carry on with a mix of fresh and familiar ideas. The Soul Capture Event will primarily be debuting across Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. This is mostly a reskin of the Trophy Hunting event from a few seasons back, but there will be a ton of new thematically appropriate rewards to earn from all of the souls you collect during this time.
Zombies around Al Mazrah and Vondead will also drop the new “Haunted Box” item, which will give aggressive players more plates, ammunition, and equipment, with the devs noting the undead are just as good as finding an Armor or Munitions Box.
There’s also a new Lethal – the Bloodseeker Grenade – which will act like a hybrid Semtex-Snapshot Grenade. Any enemy stuck will be lit up with thermal energy. Operators can avoid this by hiding out underwater, but that’s not going to end well nine times out of ten, so pick your poison.
All Warzone 2 Halloween Event & Battle Pass Skins
Finally, there’s the cosmetics. This is where the real overload comes into play. There’s an Operator, eight Skins, six bundles, and some extra BlackCell perks for those who are into that. You can find details on the BlackCell stuff in the Roadmap, but for the normal Battle Pass-related skins, there’s already so much to choose from.
Here’s the full list:
- Al Simmons (Operator)
- Spawn (Al Simmons Skin)
- Burned Spawn (Al Simmons Skin)
- Creepy Clown (Fender Skin)
- Violator (König Skin)
- Disruptor (Horangi Skin)

These will be supported by Lilith & Inarius (Diablo 4), Ash Williams (Evil Dead), Alucard (Hellsing), Skeletor, and a DOOM-themed weapon tracer pack in the store, making for a treacherous Trail Mix of otherworldly offerings.
