Vermintide 2 Has Sold One Million Copies
Vermintide 2, the most recent game in the series from Fatshark, has recently broken the million sales barrier. For those wondering about picking it up, this implies a nice healthy playerbase of people to help you smash those rats. I enjoyed my time with the game immensely, should you wish to read our review and allow it to push you toward a potential career in stopping evil. Fatshark were obviously very happy about all this, and had the following to say:
We are genuinely humbled by the reception of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 from gamers all over the world. We reached half a million units within the first week, and one million within five weeks, which is far quicker than we ever expected.
This is good news for fans of the series, as it would strongly imply that the series will continue. We also have a lot of DLC for Vermintide 2 on the way, if the first game was any indicator. Now, while a million units might not sound like much in a world of Triple A games that sell multiple millions on release day, for a small studio to sell so much in five weeks is a big deal.
For those who let the game slip by, Vermintide 2 is a four person cooperative game, that tasks you with taking on hordes of Skaven and Chaos enemies (that is to say, rats and men), as you try to stop their evil plans for world domination. There are five classes of hero to choose from, with three sub classes each, and a whole host of weapons to use. It very much plays into the Left 4 Dead style of game, but does more than enough to avoid feeling derivative.
I’ll be keeping you up to date with all future Vermintide 2 news, so be sure to keep an eye on the website for more happenings.
