FromSoftware’s latest title, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, has hit the 2 million sales milestone in 10 days. This information came from an Activision press release earlier today, which you can read here.

It was also the number one game to watch on Twitch during its release day, on March 22nd. By the end of the first week, Twitch audience members had observed a total of 1.1 billion minutes of the game.

Overall, critics and players have been extremely welcoming of the title, with plenty of positive scores praising the game’s unique death mechanic and harsh combat style.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has brought something very special and unique to Activision’s portfolio of games. It’s been an honor to work with FromSoftware to help introduce a brand-new franchise to gamers around the world,” Michelle Fonseca, the vice president of product management and marketing for Activision, commented on in the press release. “The fans have made Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice one of the most incredible game launches of 2019 thus far. The game has performed well on all platforms including PC, and we’re excited by the continued support from gamers and critics alike. It has been gratifying to see the enjoyment from fans when they overcome each challenge.”

Likely the most significant controversy to come from Sekiro has to revolve around the game’s difficulty and many hardcore fans of the Souls genre defending the fact the game does not have a difficulty setting. Many people wish to experience the gorgeous and lore-rich Sekiro world, but due to specific physical disabilities, the fact the game does not have a more relaxed setting. The trope of having a one defined difficulty level comes from FromSoftware’s more notable games, Dark Souls, Demon Souls, and Bloodborne.

For those how have been monitoring the avid Twitter discussion, it’s unknown if FromSoftware has any plans for implementing a difficulty setting in their future games as they have chosen not to comment on this, at this time. However, if the fans continue to show support for such a choice, we could see something new from the infamous Souls-genre of difficulty. It could enable the audience to grow, even more.

If you haven’t already picked up Sekiro, you can do so for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
