The Mortal Kombat reboot film seemingly casts four more actors.

A reboot film for Mortal Kombat had been rumored for years until it was announced earlier this year that the reboot was going forward by Warner Brothers Studios. The movie is expected to film in Adelaide, Australia, and it is expected to be the most significant production in Adelaide’s history. It is also slated to be rated-R and follow more closely to the hyper-violent video games in which they are based. This is a contrast to the earlier films, which only had a PG-13 rating.

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter announced four actors are in negotiations to be cast in the Mortal Kombat reboot. These four actors are Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Sisi Stringer, and Ludi Lin.

Asano, who is most well known for playing one of the Warriors Three in the Thor movies, is in negotiations to play Raiden. Raiden is the God of thunder in the Mortal Kombat universe and is Earthrealm’s protector.

Brooks, who plays James Olsen in the Supergirl TV show, will be playing Jax. Jax works for a military program called the Special Forces and is known for having robotic arms.

Sisi Stringer is a newcomer and will portray Mileena. Mileena is an evil clone of the character Kitana and has razor-sharp teeth that she hides behind a mask.

Ludi Lin, one of the leads in the live-action Power Rangers film from a few years back, is currently in talks to portray Liu Kang. Liu Kang is the champion of the Mortal Kombat tournament in the games and often serves as the de facto lead.

Joe Taslim, an Indonesian Actor, known for his role in The Raid, was previously reported as starring as Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero is one of Mortal Kombat’s mascots; he is a blue ninja with the powers to control ice.

The Mortal Kombat reboot film is currently slated to release in cinemas on March 5, 2021.
