Players can now preload Pokémon Sword and Shield via the North American and European eShop.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are the highly anticipated eighth generation of Pokémon games. Sword and Shield centers on the Galar region, which is a fictional continent based on the real-world UK. New features for the game include Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing, which allows players to transform their Pokémon into giants. There will also be a place called the Wild Area, where players can freely explore and find Pokémon in the open. The games will also be the first mainline titles in the franchise to be release on a home console.

In this new digital age, more and more gamers prefer to download their video games directly onto their home consoles. However, since the Nintendo Switch has very little storage space, Nintendo fans are extra attentive when a Switch game is available digitally, and how much storage it needs.

Yesterday it was revealed that file size for Pokémon Sword and Shield would be 9.5GB (in contrast to the 10.3GB it was initially reported as), at least based on the listing information on the Japanese eShop. Today, both games are now available for preload in the North American and European eShop so that western Pokémon fans can start their preloading.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are going to release on the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 15.
