Pokémon Sword And Shield file size will be 9.5GB, which contradicts the 10.3GB file size that was initially reported.

Sword and Shield are the upcoming eight generations of Pokémon games, centering on new Pokémon in a region called Galar. The file size for the games has been in question since the games were announced. With digital downloads become more and more prevalent, players need to know how much space they need to fit the full game on their Nintendo Switch.

It was previously reported that the games’ file size will be 10.3GB, but apparently, that no longer seems to be the case. According to Nintendo Life, the games are ready to be preload on the Nintendo eShop in Japan and Korea, and the listing shows that downloading Sword or Shield will require 9.5GB of space.

In comparison to the other Pokémon games, here are the file sizes of the previous games in the franchise:

  • X & Y: 1.7 GB
  • Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: 1.8 GB
  • Sun and Moon: 3.2 GB
  • Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon: 3.6 GB
  • Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee: 4.1 GB

The data shows that Sword and Shield will be the largest Pokémon game in terms of file size. The games are going to have a large open world called the Wild Area, as well as new battle mechanics and features. The larger file sizes make sense for these two games.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are going to release on Nov. 15.
