Pokémon Sleep was announced in today’s Pokémon Press Conference.

Few fans would have predicted the impact of Pokémon Go, and it appears that the Pokémon Company wants to repeat the success, but rather than having a direct successor to Pokémon Go, the company announced a completely new game.

Pokémon Sleep is an upcoming new mobile game that serves as a pseudo-successor to Pokémon Go.

The Pokémon Go relied on players to walk out and explore the world, Pokémon Sleep is going to use players’ time sleeping as gameplay.

When players fall asleep, how long they sleep for, and when they wake up determines the gameplay of Pokémon Sleep. Select Button, the developers of Pokémon Magikarp, are the ones working on this new mobile title. More information about the game will release in the coming days.

A new Pokémon Go Plus device will also release along with Pokémon Sleep. Called Pokémon Go Plus +, this new device will be compatible with Pokémon Sleep. It will have an accelerometer to track a player’s time sleeping and send this info to their phones through the Bluetooth. Also, it will share the same function as a normal Pokémon Go Plus so that gamers can use the Plus + for both Pokémon Go and Pokémon Sleep.

Not much of the game was shown at the press conference, but we did get a glimpse at what the Pokémon Go Plus + will look.

Pokémon Sleep is slated to release in 2020, with more news expected to come out.
