Ori and the Blind Forest Coming to Nintendo Switch

Microsoft and Nintendo have been teaming up a lot lately, to an interesting degree for console competitors. Specifically, the two companies have worked on bringing Xbox-exclusive games previously, like Cuphead and Super Lucky’s Tale to Nintendo Switch, and Banjo and Kazooie (characters now owned by Microsoft) will be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate later this year—not to mention that Minecraft, a Microsoft-owned property, has support on Nintendo’s console.

The latest previously Xbox-exclusive game to be set to be released on the Switch is Ori and the Blind Forest. The news was announced earlier today (Aug. 19) during Nintendo’s Indie World stream, where several indie game-related announcements were made. During the steam, it was revealed that the Definitive Edition of Ori and the Blind Forest will be released on the Switch on September 27. This Definitive Edition includes the base game, along with several extras, like new areas, more secrets, new abilities, more story, and additional difficulty options, all of which were added in the Definitive Edition the year after the release of the original game.

Ori and the Blind Forest is a platformer that was initially released for Xbox One and PC in 2015. The Definitive Edition came out in 2016, and a sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps is currently being developed for Xbox One and PC with a planned release slated for 2020. There is no word yet on whether this sequel will also eventually get a Nintendo Switch port.
