Lionhead Studios was the previous developer that shut down which resulted in the cancellation of Fable Legends a free-to-play game based on the game as the service model. The game focuses more on multiplayer elements. As the studio stopped its operation the game got canceled, and we never heard about any other studio in re-working on the title.

“I have slightly mixed feelings,” Fable co-creator Simon Carter told Eurogamer. Playground will build the game from scratch focusing more on the story and character. Previous titles were also focused on character mechanism where interaction with people was one the major component. Players can interact in various conversations to develop the character stats like magic, strength and social skills.

We might soon see an awesome Fable adventure in coming years. A free-to-play card game called Fable Fortune was the most recent release, that came out last year.
