Capcom has announced the cancellation of multiple game development projects at its Vancouver studio, the team working on the Dead Rising series.
“A consolidated subsidiary of Capcom, primarily carries out development of home video game software for markets outside of Japan,” the Canadian software house has thes projects cut as the publisher “is currently reviewing the allocation of its development resources that support the production of world-class content.”
“In consideration of this process, as a result of reviewing titles in development at Capcom Game Studio Vancouver, Inc., Capcom now expects to record losses from the termination of development projects of approximately 4.5 billion yen under cost of sales in its consolidated financial results for the six months of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019.”
At this stage, it’s impossible for us to state which games have been cancelled at the Vancouver team, but considering it is the Dead Rising studio it’s clear that one could think that at least one of them could be Dead Rising 5.
Anyway, the development team could’ve had a brand new IP in the making or have been one of the foreign teams being used for the externalization of series previously in the making in Japan.
In any case, we’ll inform you about any possible updates on Capcom Vancouver.
