Bleeding Edge, the upcoming new game from Ninja Theory, has a release date of March 24, 2020, according to a new trailer debuted at X019. The game will have cross-play between the Xbox One and PC version when it launches. Leading up to its launch in March, Bleeding Edge will be entering closed beta on Feb. 14, 2020.

Ninja Theory showed off a trailer for the game during the X019 livestream, showing a new cinematic and an extensive first look at the game in action. Bleeding Edge is currently in closed alpha testing, where the game’s characters and mechanics are put through their paces. The game first debuted at last year’s E3.

Bleeding Edge pits two teams of four players each against each other in frantic combat. The game focuses on melee combat but will include some ranged.

The game’s colorful cast of characters look interesting, and it seems to be well on its way to delivering some over-the-top, fast-paced combat. However, the March release date could spell trouble.

Several massive games are scheduled for March 2020 already, including Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Nioh 2, and Doom Eternal, all of which could draw attention from Ninja Theory’s scrappy newcomer. Still, Ninja Theory has a proven track record for melee combat and underdog success from games like Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, DmC: Devil May Cry, and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
