Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 To Lack Story Mode, Add Battle Royale By Raven Software [Update]

According to multiple sources, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won’t feature a story mode and will instead focus on multiplayer, Zombie and a brand new battle royale mode. The game is officially set to be revealed on May 17.
The first report coming from Polygon claims that two different sources close to the matter know that the game will be the first in the series not to release complete of a single-player campaign.
Interestingly, Treyarch is said to have taken this decision because the studio understood that it wouldn’t have completed the story mode in time for the upcoming launch in October.
Based on this intel, the website believes that there will be a major shift in focus on the co-op portion, which has already been in previous chapters and definitely became a part of what people love in Call of Duty, such as the Zombie experience.
The report was confirmed by other sources gathered by Kotaku, which also claims to have heard – same as Charlie Intel – of a battle royale mode coming as a sort of replacement for the missing story mode. This mode would be in the making at Raven Software.
While this might look a bit disappointing, it appears quite clear that the move would be part of a bigger picture, also including the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster which was said in previous rumors not to feature the multiplayer component.
UPDATE
Jason Schreier has confirmed once again that Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII will not have a single-player campaign and in place of it it will have a Battle Royale mode.
