Eagle-eyed viewers of today’s Resident Evil 3 remake trailer may have noticed a new player listed among big-time game studios like Capcom: M-Two Inc. Who are they, and what do they have to do with the Biohazard remake?

GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that the gaming studio was founded and is being led by former Capcom veteran Tatsuya Minami.

RE3 endcap

Minami is a prolific video game developer who worked on many Capcom titles, like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Devil May Cry, before leaving the company. He would go on to form his own company, called Odd Ltd., in 2006, which later merged with another company founded by Capcom veterans, called Seeds Inc. The merged companies became what is today known as PlatinumGames, the same company that developed the Bayonetta series, Nier: Automata, and and upcoming hardcore action RPG Babyon’s Fall. Minami was the head of PlatinumGames before leaving in 2016.

Based on reports published by Video Games Chronicle and GamesIndustry, Minami is the founder of M-Two Inc, which has been active for over a year at this point, and it is mostly compromised with former Capcom and PlatinumGames employees. The name of the company reportedly comes from the names of Minami and Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil. VGC has sources claiming that Minami was going to have Mikami join him as a co-founder of this new start-up company, but Mikami decided not to leave Capcom.

You’ll see the company’s logo at the end of the Resident Evil 3 Remake trailer, which means that the company has at least some part in working on the remake. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the studio is backed by Capcom.
