Ghost of Tsushima finally has a release date.
Today’s State of Play presentation included a much sought after glimpse of Sucker Punch’s upcoming action-adventure game, Ghost of Tsushima. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite the information dump we had hoped. Instead, we got a brief teaser of an upcoming trailer that we will get to see in full at this week’s Game Awards, which air Thursday. According to Geoff Keighley, creator and producer of the Game Awards, it will be the longest trailer in the show.
Quick aside: This is our longest trailer in the show on Thursday!

The open-world game is based on the adventures of Jin Sakai, the last samurai on Tsushima Island during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. It will feature stealth elements, sword-based combat, character progression, and trusty grappling hooks.
Gameplay has looked impressive, and today Sony showed off more of Ghost of Tsushima’s remarkable world, even if it was only for a moment. Rich, beautifully realized trees and grass, gorgeous weather effects, and beautiful texture work on display all imply that Ghost of Tsushima will be worth the wait. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long to see the rest of the trailer—and, hopefully, to learn more important information about this intriguing game.
The Game Awards take place on Dec. 12 at 8:30pm ET / 5:30pm PT. You can watch the event live on multiple platforms, including Twitch, Youtube, Facebook Live, and Mixer.
