In a recent interview, Xbox’s marketing manager, Aaron Greenberg, revealed there are no plans to release Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Nintendo Switch. Despite The Blind Forest coming to the hybrid platform in a couple of weeks.
Greenberg shared that it was out of Moon Studios’ will to bring the original title to the newest platform, so Microsoft was glad to accept that request. For those worried about Ori and the Will of The Wisps not making it to the Switch, it may be up to Moon Studios to push it forward.
“Ori is built by Moon Studios, which is an independent, external studio,” Greenberg told MCV. “They came to us with a desire to bring the original Ori to the Switch. We thought that made sense, and we’re happy to work with them to enable them to bring that to Switch.”
“We understand their desire to bring that game to Switch, and in this particular case, we were happy to support them. And we think that makes sense for the original Ori,” Greenberg added.
As for Ori and the Will of the Wisps, though, he was extremely clear about that the game “exclusively on Xbox One and on the PC.” Since Microsoft “will be focused on making games for our platforms, and we have no plans to expand our exclusive first-party games to any other consoles.”
That’s not surprising, anyway, since that’s the latest, post-E3 2019 policy from Xbox Game Studios. Hopefully, the game comes to the Switch sometime in the future, as The Blind Forest has done.
