Tim Longo, Creative Director For Halo Infinite, Leaves 343 Industries

The creative director for the upcoming Halo Infinite game leaves 343 Industries.
Tim Longo is a veteran in the video game industry and has worked with 343 Industries for several years now. He served as the creative director for Halo 5: Guardians, and was serving as Halo Infinite’s creative director.
Earlier today, Kotaku received a statement from Microsoft that confirmed that Longo has left 343 Industries. The statement reads –
“Roles and responsibilities of various team members regularly evolve to meet the needs of a game, throughout development. We have recently had two changes to the Halo Infinite development team. Our Executive Producer, Mary Olson, will now take charge of the Campaign team on Halo Infinite as the Lead Producer, utilizing her many years of experience at 343 to help craft a great campaign for fans.
Additionally, Tim Longo has recently departed our team, and we are truly thankful for his many contributions to our games, our studio, and the Halo universe. We wish Tim nothing but the best in his future endeavors.
The overall creative vision and production of the game remain led by Chris Lee, Studio Head of Halo Infinite.
We have a world-class team building Halo Infinite, and the overwhelmingly positive response by fans has us energized, more than ever, to create the best Halo game to date, alongside Project Scarlett in holiday 2020. These changes have no impact to the release date for Halo Infinite.”
This is a very sudden development in 343 Industries, especially since Halo Infinite is already presumably far in development. Infinite was first announced at E3 2018, and a cinematic cutscene was shown off at E3 of this year. The game is meant to serve as a spiritual reboot for the series after the previous entry received a lukewarm response from fans.
Halo Infinite is expected to release sometime in 2020. It is scheduled to release on Xbox One, PC, and the upcoming next generation Xbox console, currently under the codename Scarlett.
