With filming recently wrapped, and San Diego Comic-Con on the horizon, Netflix has revealed a first proper look at the main characters from their upcoming The Witcher series. Previously we have seen some leaked behind the scenes footage where soldiers costumes looked a little off, and a makeup test of Henry Cavill, looking less than convincing in a pretty bad silver wig.

Thankfully, the images released by Netflix go a long way towards helping to quell fears about how the show would look. Geralt has obviously been aged down a little, hence Henry Cavill in the role, but the costume is extremely convincing. Whilst the series is based on the books, Geralt’s armor looks like it is lifted straight out of the game.

Yennefer, being played in the series by Anya Chalotra, and Ciri played by Freya Allan, both look great as well. Yennefer’s costume really falls into line with how I expect the character to dress, while Ciri falls firmly into the trope of “person trying to hide themselves in a cloak”.

The series on Netflix is based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, and not the CD Projekt Red series that many people will be so familiar with. At the moment there is no set release date, although the series is expected to arrive on Netflix some time this year.
