Nintendo brought a lot of surprise reveal and announcements at yesterday’s Nintendo Direct Mini – here’s our list of 14 big announcements that were made by Nintendo at this surprise Nintendo Direct.
After all the rumours and tweets, finally the dust has settled and what we thought were rumours came out to be the truth as on 10th January, the Nintendo Direct Mini went live. And it gave us a lot of information regarding what games were releasing for the Switch and details about the game. Here is the list of games releasing.
The World Ends with You | 2018
The World Ends With You, which was originally launched for the Nintendo DS is getting a remake of the Switch. It takes advantage of the touch screen and joy-cons and will let the player use both the features to their advantage. It will also include a “sizeable new scenario.” No further details were mentioned, and no release date, just that it will be released this year.
Pokken Tournament DX DLC | January 31, March 23
Pokken Tournament DX will be getting new DLC characters. The paid Deluxe Battle Pack DLC is now available for purchase and the content will be released in two phases. Wave 1 will be on January 31 and will bring the new battle character Aegislash along with the support set Mega Rayquaza and Mimikyu.
Wave 2, will be on March 23, will introduce the battle character Blastoise along with a support set of Mew and Celebi. And if you purchase the battle pack now, you’ll have immediate access to a new set of avatar items.
Kirby Star Allies | March 16
Kirby Star Allies was announced back at E3. And now the new trailer for the game showed off a set of new abilities. Artist and Spider change-up Kirby’s available move set, along with that there will be a way to mix and match abilities when playing with friends in Kirby’s co-op mode. The game will is released on March 16.
Dragon Quest Builders Demo | Released
The demo version for the Minecraft-DQ RPG combo is now available for the Switch, and the full launch will be done by the end of the month.
Hyrule Warriors Ultimate Edition | Spring 2018
Nintendo Switch is getting a definitive edition of Hyrule Warriors this spring. Hyrule Warriors Ultimate Edition will include all of the DLC content from both the 3DS and Wii U, including every map, mission, and character. Along with that few new addition to the game include the ability to play co-op on the same screen as well as Breath of the Wild-themed costumes for Link and Zelda.
Mario Tennis Aces | Spring 2018
A new Mario Tennis game from developer Camelot, the team behind the GBA game Golden Sun and other Mario sports titles, will release their first Mario Tennis game which includes a story mode
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana | Summer 2018
The PS4/Vita/PC RPG from 2017 will be available for Switch during the summer.
Super Mario Odyssey Update | February 2018
After completion of the main story in SMO, you will continue your adventure with Luigi with the latest update, which adds a competitive Balloon World Mod where you will be hiding balloons from other players and vice-versa.
In addition, the free update will introduce several new snapshot filters as well as three new outfits:
- Sunshine Shades + outfit
- Musician Hat + Outfit
- Knight Armor + Helmet
SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy | Summer 2018
The fan service focused brawler, SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy from NIS will be an all-female character game. The game will contain all female characters from all the previous SNK fighting games
Mario + Rabbids DLC | Spring 2018
The roster update for Mario + Rabbids will be available this spring and will add the new Donkey Kong character.
Payday 2 | Feb. 27, 2018
The Payday 2 port for Nintendo Switch now has a release date of 27th February. In addition to that, there will be a limited new character for the portable platform. The “Japanese computer whiz” named Joy will be available first on Switch. You can see more of the game in action in portable and tabletop modes here.
Fe and Celeste | February, January
Fe an indie game which is being developed under the EA Originals banner which gives a developing platform for the indie developers. It was announced last year and will be released on 16th February. And Celeste from developer Matt Makes Games will be available on 25th January.
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze | May 4
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be released for Switch on May 4. The game will add a new playable character, Funky Kong, who has his own unique twist on the original’s platforming gameplay.
Dark Souls Remastered | May 25
