Will Assassin’s Creed Valhalla have leveled gear?

Gear always matters, especially if you have a favorite pair of axes.

For the past few years, Assassin’s Creed games have had RPG elements. For example, your character doesn’t solely have a skill tree giving them access to new abilities as the story progresses. Instead, they have levels, and as they complete quests in the world, your character can use ability points to unlock new features. Alongside that same concept, leveled gear was introduced to the franchise. In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, will you always have leveled gear?

Yes, you will. Leveled gear will return in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as will many of the RPG elements from Origins and Odyssey. These features were a hit when they released, turning the Assassin’s Creed franchise into a unique and different gameplay perspective that many had not expected from this series. Now, it’s become a staple.

Leveled gear will work differently in Valhalla than it had in Origins and Odyssey. Instead of continually replacing new gear for stuff that has higher levels, which you can do, but you can instead improve and level up your beginner level gear and take it with you for the rest of the game.

At this time, we don’t know too much about the upgrade system. We don’t know if you’ll be able to modify the abilities attached to the gear, the certain benefits to keeping your beginning set up, or how many improvements you can apply to any of your weapons and equipment. We do know all of these improvements and upgrades will take place at your settlement.

Your settlement serves as your base of operations where you bring all of the supplies you’ve raided and taken from the nearby villages to give to the people living there. You can expect to visit the blacksmith who works there to modify your gear or even make new pieces for you.

We’ll learn more about the leveled gear when the game releases sometime in Holiday 2020. You can preorder it for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and for the PC through UPlay, Google Stadia, or the Epic Games Store.
