When is the end date of the Dark and Darker playtest?

The fourth Alpha playtest of Dark and Darker, which coincides with Steam Next Fest in February, has an official end date of February 16, 2023 at midnight PST. According to the official Dark and Darker Discord, this extension beyond Steam Next Fest was decided upon due to trading post and matchmaking downtime which occurred sporadically during the fourth playtest.

There have been a total of four playtests so far: the first took place in September of 2022, the second occurred one month later in October, and the third was live in late December. Each playtest has also been a success so far as a majority of the users involved are actively participating and making steady suggestions. Various posts from the developers themselves displaying recent patch notes show their dedication toward improving the game before its planned full release in Q4 of 2023.

Although the game is still a work in progress, the continuous cooperation between the members of its community will only serve to make this title a creative and enjoyable experience. It’s important to remember that, while Dark and Darker has been an absolute blast to explore, it’s still in an alpha state. This means that various bugs and errors are sure to crop up while adventuring — be patient with the title, and enjoy everything there is in its current state while trying to get out alive.
