Do you want to triple your pocket space right after spawning in SCUM? You arrived at a right place. It doesn’t matter how many layers of clothing you put on, you’re never going to have enough pockets to fit all your spoils and goodies.
So what you really need is a backpack, but sadly, they are hard to come by unless you have nerves of steel and you storm the Airfield for sweet military loot. The solution to this dilemma is to craft an improvised backpack.
How To Manage Inventory Space
The best way to do this right off the bat is to use a Stone Knife to cut your prison clothing into rags. If you don’t know how to craft a Stone Knife, refer back to the Weapons to Start With guide. To cut your prison gear into rags, you need to open your Inventory by pressing TAB and equip your Stone Knife into your hands. Once you have that equipped, right click on your shirt and a drop-down menu should appear with the option to Cut Into Rags. Select it and wait for the tearing animation to finish before repeating that same process with your pants.
If you take a look in the Vicinity section on the left-hand side of your inventory menu there should be two Rag Stripes and five Rags. What you need to do now is right click on one of the Rags and select the Cut Into Rag Stripes option from the drop down menu. You need to repeat this to two of the Rags so you now have six Rag Stripes and three Rags.
Go ahead and move over to your crafting menu, selecting the Improvised Rope option on the right-hand side of the menu before hitting that big yellow Craft button at the bottom. Once that has finished crafting the Improvised Courier Bag should be available to craft. Click that bad boy and set it to craft before returning to your Inventory screen to equip it.
You have now upgraded from three slots to a whopping nine slots of storage. There’s space for all your goodies and spoils from your travels across the SCUM landscape!
