Developer Niantic has announced the dates for Pokémon Go Fest 2020, which will be happening on July 25 and the 26 from 10:00am to 8:00pm local time. Unlike previous uses, this Pokémon Go Fest will be happening virtually and will allow players from all over the world to attend the event. Traditionally, attendees meet in a physical location to play the game for a set amount of time, attempting to capture exclusive Pokémon and complete a Special Research event tied to it. Now, it’ll be a virtual event, meaning anyone with Pokémon Go can join it.

You can now purchase the tickets. They are available in the in-game store for $14.99. Your ticket will be valid for both days, so you won’t have to purchase two tickets to attend the virtual event. There is unlimited capacity, so everyone who wishes to participate can take part in the event. There will be global challenges, rotating virtual habitats, 75 exclusive Pokémon to catch, and a mysterious mythical Pokémon available to capture for those who attend.

To buy the tickets, open your Pokémon Go game and click the PokéBall on your screen. You should see an events tab in the upper-right hand section. Click it, and there should be a tab for Pokémon Go Fest 2020. You will then redirect to a page to purchase the tickets for the event.

There will be weekly challenges throughout July leading up to the main event. These weekly challenges are available to everyone in Pokémon Go, not just those who attend the event. These challenges tie into the overall story being told in the game where Professor Willow is learning about the mysterious mythical Pokémon that has shown up. These weekly challenges also connect to the available Pokémon showing up at the Pokémon Go Fest 2020. We don’t know how these unlocks work, though.

You will need to buy the ticket before the event launches to participate in it from July 25 to 26, from 10:00am to 8:00pm in your local time.
