Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

How to access the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta

Going dark.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

As we creep ever closer to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War release on November 13, we will get our first hands-on experience during the beta. If you desperately want to get into the beta to see if Treyarch can carry on the series renaissance that Call of Duty has been enjoying, then there are two ways to do it. You should also be aware that there will be open betas for the game, but if you want that sweet early access, you’ll need to either invest in the game or get lucky.

Pre-orders

If you pre-order a digital version of the game, you will get automatic access to the beta, so if you wish to take a leap of faith, that is a way you can guarantee entry.

Discord

If you don’t want to take the risk of pre-ordering, you can join the official Treyarch Discord, where they will be giving away beta keys for all platforms. This is part of a National Video Games Day event, but we imagine it will continue from now until the start of the different betas. They have also given out codes during Call of Duty League matches, so you can always tune in and hope that the same thing happens again.

When is the beta?

Because nothing can ever be simple, there will actually be a range of different betas, and some of them will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.

PlayStation Exclusive:

  • Oct 8-9 PS4 Early Access
  • Oct 10-12 PS4 Open Beta

Cross-play Beta:

  • Oct 15-16 Xbox + PC Early Access / PS4 Open Beta
  • Oct 17-19 Open on all platforms

Remember, a pre-order of any digital version of the game will get you into the early access betas, so you will have a couple of extra days of fun before everyone can get in for the open betas.
