Everything We Know About Midwinter Blight in Diablo 4 – Currencies, Tasks, & Rewards

Diablo 4’s first seasonal event, the Midwinter Blight, is here, and with it comes new content, rewards, and demonically festive creatures and activities for players to enjoy.

Diablo 4 fans have been busy with the newest season and are excited about upcoming content announced for the game. This includes this “holiday” opportunity to spill a little blood. If you are curious about what to expect from this seasonal event, we’ve got all the details available on the event in this guide so you can be prepared for the demon-slaying festivities.

What is the Midwinter Blight?

Midwinter Blight is a seasonal event coming to Diablo 4 over the festive season and will be the first of its kind for the ARPG. In this event, the Fractured Peaks region will be transformed into a winter-themed version, at least more so than it is now, and be filled with new enemies and activities to do, with themed creatures and visuals found all across the region.

When Does the Midwinter Blight Begin in Diablo 4?

Midwinter Blight begins on December 12, 2023, and will run for three weeks, ending on January 12, 2024.

In order to unlock the event, you need to head to Kyovashad and find the bard Gileon, who hopes to lift the people’s spirits in spite of the horrors overtaking the region. After talking with Gileon, he will send you out into the Fractured Peaks, asking you to deal with the creatures causing havoc in the hopes that you are able to bring some sense of joy and calm to the people.

Midwinter Blight Tasks & Currencies

For the event, you’ll mainly be fighting themed enemies called Blightfiends found around the Fractured Peaks and destroying their Frigid Husks, the monstrous-looking totems that resemble bloody and demonic Christmas trees. These are found all around the region and come in rather large groups, so expect a decent challenge.

As you defeat these enemies and destroy the totems, you’ll find a few items to loot, these being the materials for the event. These include Blighted Fragments, which drop from enemies, and the Lost Heirlooms, which drop from destroyed Frigied Husks. There is also the Red Cloaked Trophy, which is dropped from the event’s boss, the Red Cloaked Terror, who will appear as you disrupt the fiend’s festivities.

With these items, you’ll then take them back to the Collections Table found in Kyovashad by Gileon. Here, you can convert these materials into Midwinter Proof and use them to purchase seasonal cosmetics and rewards from Gileon.

The amount needed for different items to earn Midwinter Proof varies due to their rarity, so some require a rather large amount to exchange for the Midwinter Proof. We have included all the materials exchange rates below. For these materials, you will also earn one Midwinter Proof.

Midwinter Blight Rewards in Diablo 4

For your hard work in cleaning up Fractured Peaks and getting your Midwinter Proof, you’ll be able to purchase several rewards from Gileon, including cosmetics, a new Aspect, and some weapon skins.

Along with these rewards you can purchase, you will also be able to unlock some additional ones through a tier system, with three sets of rewards to unlock as you partake in the event, exchange resources, and purchase rewards. These include gold and Great Midwinter Spoils, which drop gems, armor, and Gileons Brew.

As you progress, the Midwinter Ward found in Kyovashad will become more decorated, eventually turning into a testament to your demon slaying and an oddly brutal and bloody decoration to celebrate the season.
