The latest patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 has implemented a much-requested feature, as you can now change your appearance, pronouns, and body type after character creation with the aid of a Magic Mirror. However, there are some limitations to these changes, and some things cannot be altered, even with the power of magic.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has extensive character creation options, so many that it’s easy to get buyer’s remorse and want to start over. Many players spent over an hour in the character creator, only to change their mind partway through Act I, and were sent straight back to the Nautiloid with a fresh new hero and a desire to approach the game differently.

Once you have downloaded Patch 3, you will be able to access the Magic Mirror from your camp, which you can visit after the Nautiloid crashes at the beginning of Act I. You can use this Magic Mirror to alter aspects of your character’s design, though it bears mentioning that it cannot change aspects of your character class. To change your class, you need to find Withers and pay him to respec your character.

The Magic Mirror can change your character’s appearance, voice, pronouns, and reproductive organs. However, there are some things it cannot alter, and you’ll need a fresh restart to change these.

The Magic Mirror cannot change your character’s race, subrace, or body type. It also bears mentioning that the Magic Mirror cannot alter Origin characters, hirelings, or Illithids, nor can it change aesthetic alterations that happen over the course of the game.

This means there are strict limits to what the Magic Mirror can accomplish. It’s better to tweak your character design if you are unhappy with an aesthetic choice, but some major aspects cannot be changed. For that, you’ll either need a cheat engine in the PC version of the game or to start anew.

With the Magic Mirror, you can pause your quest to remove the tadpoles from your brain to have a quick makeover.
