This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

You might have not noticed that, but 2019 has already reached its second half, so it’s about time that we start to look back at things that have happened in gaming thus far. When you do such things, Metacritic is a really good ally, without being – of course – a bible that tells you everything you need to know about a specific title.

You might not have noticed that, but 2019 has already reached its second half, so it’s about time that we start to look back at things that have happened in gaming thus far. When you do such things, Metacritic is a perfect ally, without being – of course – a bible that tells you everything you need to know about a specific title.

Lots of games have been released until now, and many of them have achieved excellent average scores on websites around the world, and the best 20 video games have a Metascore ranging from 84 to 91, which is rather good if you consider the number of titles included in this frame.

The list (via My Nintendo News) kicks off with the just released Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled and has in the much appreciated Resident Evil 2 remake its winner, followed by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. RE2, Sekiro and Devil May Cry 5, which ended six, are the sole games not involved in an ex aequo.

16 [tie]: Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled (PS4, 84)

#16 [tie]: DiRT Rally 2.0 (PS4, 84)

#16 [tie]: Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love (PC, 84)

#16 [tie]: Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey (3DS, 84)

#12 [tie]: Blaster Master Zero II (Switch, 85)

#12 [tie]: Devotion (PC, 85)

#3 [tie]: Super Mario Maker 2 (Switch, 89)

PC is the most represented platform with 8 titles, followed by PlayStation 4 with 6. Xbox One only got into the list thanks to Devil May Cry 5, a multi-platform release, perhaps because of the performances on Xbox One X which have been the best of the lot.

So, do you agree with these results? And how many of these games you have played thus far? It seems like there’s a lot of work to do to get on par!
