Hi-Rez Studios’ battle royale title Realm Royale, still in Alpha, regularly receives updates adjusting game balance and mechanics. Adding new weapons, and performing testing is expected for a game still in development. But the latest update is a little bigger. And greener. Hi-Rez Studios are teasing the game’s first Battle Pass, Primal Awakening, which features a prehistoric-themed pack of cosmetics.

Realm Royale’s first Battle Pass features chicken skins, mount skins, class skills, emotes, contrails and more to be revealed at a later date. A raptor mount and dinosaur-themed chicken skin were datamined quite some time ago, and the trailer above confirms that these will be included with the Pass. Battle Passes typically offer players with new progression-based features, offering unlockable rewards. If grinding experience and cosmetic rewards are your thing, Battle Passes are perfect for you.

No details on the Battle Pass’s launch or pricing have been revealed at this time, but it’s worth noting that the Battle Pass for Hi-Rez’s popular team-based shooter Paladins is priced at $39.99 for the entire year’s worth of Passes (there’s three in 2018). These Passes grant access to cosmetic unlockables and the pack includes $25 worth of Crystals, the game’s paid in-game currency. Realm Royale doesn’t currently feature such a currency, but it’s a likely feature to be added in a future patch, common with other free-to-play games.

If you’re already itching to get your hands on cosmetics in Realm Royale, there’s an Alpha Pack currently available on Steam for $14.99. This pack grants instant access to a chicken skin featuring a special “Alpha” t-shirt and sunglasses, a special alpha spray and avatar, a “T-pose” emote and a fancy Kaleidoscope horse mount. The Alpha Pack is available only during the Alpha, so you’ll likely still have a bit of time to grab it if you’re on the fence, but we wouldn’t recommend waiting too long!
