E3 2018 attendees can play Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch by reserving a ticket

All E3 attendees can reserve a ticket to play Super Smash Bros. once. Two modes are available to try out, “for fun” and “for glory.”

Good news for E3 2018 attendees interested in playing Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo revealed in a press release today that interested players can reserve a chance to play the game with an electronic ticket.

Starting June 5, all E3 2018 attendees registered by May 31 will receive an email with instructions on reserving an electronic ticket to play Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch. Attendees can choose between two different modes: “for fun,” basically simple quick play between convention goers, or a competitive elimination match dubbed “for glory.” All tickets are free, but only one is available for each attendee, and players can only choose between one of the two modes.

In order to play, interested E3 attendees have to sign up for Super Smash Bros. ahead of time. Tickets are given out as QR codes, so there’s no need to carry around a paper ticket before the show, as all electronic tickets can be stored on a smartphone. The rest of Nintendo’s games will be first-come, first-serve, not unlike PAX and other gaming conventions. Otherwise, Super Smash Bros. is available to play between June 12 to June 14.

“We’re always looking to improve the ways people can maximize the fun they have with Nintendo at E3,” Nintendo of America Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing’s Doug Bowser said in the press release. “This year our focus is on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game, and we want as many people as possible to give it a try.”
