Publisher XSEED has announced No More Heroes 3 is heading to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S sometime this fall. The upcoming release of this version of the game will come with improved HD visuals, framerates, and faster loading times compared to the last year’s Nintendo Switch release.
No More Heroes 3 is getting a full-blown physical release, illustrated by series artist Yusuke Kozaki that comes with not just the game but some goodies as well. Anyone who ends picking the $60 physical Day One Edition will get the game, a 5.3”x7.3” 70-page softcover art book, a CD of select tracks from the game’s soundtrack, and a 7”x4” Santa Destroy biker license plate.
The game takes place about eleven years after No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle; retired professional assassin Travis Touchdown makes his return to the fictional city of Santa Destroy. For Travis, it isn’t a peaceful return, as the city faces an alien invasion from evil Prince FU and his nine alien henchmen, Travis must once again climb the ranks — the Galactic Superhero Rankings this time around in order to take them down.
Developer Grasshopper Manufacture initially announced the long-awaited sequel back at E3 2019 exclusively for the Switch. No more Heroes 3 was initially planned to release in 2020, the pandemic slowed down development and was delayed to 2021. Series creator Goichi Suda describes the game, which was initially meant to be a Switch-exclusive, as the conclusion to Travis Touchdown’s story which kicked off back all the way back in 2007 on the Wii.
