Nintendo, Activision suggest a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Switch port is on the way
In a strange set of events, Nintendo has begged Crash Bandicoot to put the skateboarding game on its platform.
Like Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time recently, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 may be headed to Nintendo Switch months after its original launch. Although not confirmed, rumors seemed all but true when a Twitter conversation between the famed skateboarder, Nintendo, and Activision certainly pointed to a nearby announcement.
“Just heard #Crash4 is coming to new platforms and I’m kinda jealous. Hey, @CrashBandicoot can you hook @TonyHawkTheGame up?” Tony Hawk tweeted Monday evening. Just minutes later, Nintendo’s Twitter account followed suit, asking Crash to “make it happen,” with Activision later chiming in with a not-so-subtle pair of eyes emoji.
At the time of writing, the Twitter accounts for PlayStation and Xbox have yet to make a response, so next-gen versions of the Pro Skater remasters are still a mystery. This does seem to add extra weight to claims that Nintendo Switch files were found in the game’s demo almost a year ago.
Considering Hawk used the popular advertising tool of hashtags and received a rare reply from Nintendo, the conversation does seem more like a well-thought-out marketing ploy than a genuine request. If this is more than a dastardly tease, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 would surely entice many to play it on-the-go — especially with it being the fast-selling game in franchise history.
