Ubisoft denies Rainbow Six Quarantine is to be renamed Parasite despite art leaks

Ubisoft states the name was a placeholder.

Ubisoft has confirmed that their Rainbow Six Siege co-op spin-off Quarantine is not receiving a name change to Parasite despite leaks of key art suggesting that it is, stating that the name was used as an internal placeholder name.

The leak, which was reported yesterday, showed new key art that showed Siege’s popular Polish operator Ela covered in black goo with the subtitle Parasite. This was accompanied by an infographic showing a remote play feature using the PS Vita for the game.

Ubisoft has previously stated that it has yet to give the game an official name and that the Quarantine subtitle was likely to change.

However, Ubisoft has confirmed via PCGamesN that the leaked images do not represent the final product, with the official name still not finalized.

“While we recently shared that we will be changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, ‘Parasite’ is only a placeholder that our internal teams use. Recently, we ran an internal test for the game and some of its details became public.”

Ubisoft also confirmed in their statement that more details about the game and its official name would be released soon, though no time frame was offered.

The name change makes sense for the game, with its premise being that you and two other operators are fighting to survive against a technological parasite. The game is based on the popular PVE, story-focused Outbreak mode launched with Operation Chimera in Siege in 2018.

While Ubisoft has clarified that the new name for Rainbow Six Quarantine is not yet confirmed, Parasite would be fitting for it, and so we wouldn’t count it out yet as being the official name once revealed.
