Along with headphones, a microphone is essential for any gamer who is venturing into the world of streaming or podcasting. Razer is no stranger when it comes to producing high-quality peripherals, and the Razer Seiren Elite is held to that standard of high quality.

Simple Set Up

The Razer Seiren Elite has an easy USB set up that you can plug into your computer. I was expecting to have to install some sort of Razer software to obtain more features, but this is just a microphone we’re talking about, and no fancy software was needed.

The Razer Seiren Elite is slick black in color with volume, gain, and mute controls right up front for easy access when you need them. A convenient headphone jack is located next to the USB port on the back, so plugging in your headphones is a cinch. With a stable circular base and adjustable swivel, you’ll be able to adjust the microphone in whatever position you need.

Located just above the volume knob, is an LED ring that will indicate if the microphone is either on and ready to record (green), off, or you have hit peak levels (red). The big surprise is that a windscreen is provided if you choose to use it.

High-Quality Voice

The advantage of having a desk microphone as opposed to using a headset/microphone combo is that the receiver isn’t right next to your mouth. The preverbal “Fix your microphone” has gone by the wayside thanks to the Razer Seiren Elite microphone. Hearing that my voice is coming in loud and clear from my teammates is a welcome addition, and they don’t have to get on to me to adjust accordingly.

The Razer Seiren Elite has a high pass filter button that is located on the back of the microphone and will remove any low-frequency vibrations that a standard microphone would pick up. That means the sounds of fans and any accidental bumps won’t be heard in recordings or on the other end of streams and podcasts.

For those moments that gaming gets exciting, the Razer Seiren Elite digital and analog vocal limiter will automatically adjust volume and gain to prevent distortion and popping. We all know not to scream into the microphone, but sometimes it can’t be helped.

Can You Hear Me Now?

Whether you’re using the Razer Seiren Elite for general gaming, podcasts, or streaming, you’ll be satisfied with how you come across on the other side. With the high pass filter and digital/analog limiter, you’ll be heard loud and clear no matter what’s going on.

With such a high-quality microphone, I found only a few issues with the Razer Seiren Elite. While the base unit itself is built solidly, the gain and volume knobs are made of plastic and have no LED indicator as to the level you have them on. This lack of signs leaves you guessing at where you have the gain and volume set and having to adjust to your settings.

Despite the minor issues with the gain and volume knobs, the Razer Seiren Elite is a must have for anyone who streams video games or wants to venture into podcasting.
