Monolith Soft has posted a brand new job listing that is seemingly hinting at the studio further expanding to support development on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.

The Japanese software house is known for its original series Xenoblade Chronicles. It also worked as a co-developer on the first Breath of the Wild project, with the core team at Nintendo.

The studio is now seeking a character modeler, concept art designer, scenario planner and map modeler for a new Zelda game.

Monolith is owned by Nintendo and has had a major expansion since the release of Switch; this year, it has opened new offices in Tokyo and now features three different locations with a total of around 220 staffers.

The studio is currently working on Breath of the Wild yet to be officially titled sequel and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, which was announced in September 2019 and will release next year as a remaster of the original 2011’s Wii JRPG.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was revealed at E3 2019 and doesn’t have a release window yet. The fact that the studio is still hiring hints that the game is not going to launch anytime soon.

The recent rumors pointed out that it might be shipped in early 2021 and be called Breath of the Darkness and work similarly to Majora’s Mask, as an exact opposite with the original BotW or Ocarina of Time.
