You Can Keep Playing after Cyberpunk 2077’s Ending, but You’ll Have to Find out How

Cyberpunk 2077 will allow gamers to keep playing after the ending, CD Projekt RED revealed during its annual community event in Warsaw, Poland, as reported by a user on Reddit.
The Polish developer has shared that the option to continue to play the game after the ending of the main story will be there but, unlike other games out there, “it’s something for the players to see.” The statement means that you’ll be required to do “something” to keep playing after the story.
Many open-world video games on the market allow you to stay in that world after completing the main quest, often sending you back in time (like it happens with the PlayStation 4 exclusive Death Stranding) before the in-game event that triggers the end of the game.
It looks like Cyberpunk 2077 will do something different, though. While we don’t have enough information on what will happen in the final game, our educated guess is that the ability to keep playing in the same world will be up to some choice we’ll be prompted to make in the story.
CD Projekt RED has offered rather vague comments about new game plus opportunities for Cyberpunk 2077, sharing in past interviews that they were still wondering how to implement that mode in the game without being incoherent with its story.
“What I can tell you is we are looking into a suitable idea for implementing New Game Plus,” said producer Richard Borzymowski in August. “If and how has yet to be seen and talked about. (…) We’re looking for a way to ensure that you’re able to keep your progression, but are you still able to take a different path in order to see one of those parts that was hidden behind one of those actual choices.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing on April 16, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Google Stadia version is also scheduled for a later date next year.
