Microsoft has announced the release of a new graphics option for its backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles on Xbox One X, together with a new list of four games coming to the services after few hours of rumors.

The four new titles, in case you missed, are the original Crackdown, Forza Horizon, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – the one rumored throughout the evening yesterday – and Fable Anniversary, bringing the count of Xbox 360 products enhanced for the X model up to eleven.

Xbox One Backward Compatibility Graphical Options

According to the announcement from the platform holder, from now on players will be able to choose between a Performance mode, which will leave the game as it is on Xbox One and Xbox One S (with faster frame rates when possible), and a Graphics mode.

The Graphics mode will be the default option for Xbox 360 games played on Xbox One X, and as usual, it will offer 9x the pixel count, better anti-aliasing, higher quality textures and resolution.

The process will be rather simple, as a toggle is being added to the Xbox 360 emulated OS, and will require restarting the game once applied. It’ll take these few steps to work:

  • Step 1 Press “View” and “Menu” buttons on the controller to pull up the Xbox 360 guide
  • Step 2 Navigate to “Settings” blade
  • Step 3 Select “Xbox One X Settings”

There you will be able to choose between Performance and Graphics. “Changing this setting will end your current session. Optimizing for graphics makes this game look better. Optimizing performance can make the play feel smoother”, the dashboard message says.
