All current World of Warcraft expansions now part of monthly subscription

Looking to get into World of Warcraft ahead of the latest expansion, Battle for Azeroth? It will no longer cost you an arm and a hoof to get started. Blizzard has revamped its payment model, turning previously standalone purchases for each expansion into content that’ll be part of your monthly subscription.
Blizzard has opted to move away from its Battle Chest model. Previously, additional expansions would be added to the Battle Chest each time a new one released. Now the subscription simply encompasses everything players have missed out on. Right up to the latest chunk of content, World of Warcraft: Legion. If you’ve never purchased a single Battle Chest or WoW expansion, now you need only pay $15 a month to get access to the game and every bit of content.
There is one exception. The upcoming expansion, Battle for Azeroth will still set you back a one-time fee of $49.99 if you want to jump in when it officially drops on Aug. 14. You can also opt to purchase a Complete Collection, which includes Battle for Azeroth and 30 days of game time to get started with.
Blizzard hasn’t done much publicity about these new changes to WoW’s payment structure. Blizzard rolled them out alongside the Battle for Azeroth pre-patch, which debuted today. Purchasing any of the expansions that weren’t part of the current Battle Pass has always acted as an obstacle for adding more players and friends into your guilds. The game has been running for nearly 15 years, and now players new and old can catch up before the adventure continues.
