Video games projects come and go at the speed of light, and sometimes we don’t even learn about their existence.

Anyway, at times, developers and publishers do share teasers that eventually don’t lead to anything, as it has happened with Pioneer.

Pioneer, a sci-fi title that’s been in the making at Ubisoft for a while, was hinted at in Watch Dogs 2, where you could leak a trailer from the publisher San Francisco’s office.

Unfortunately, as shared by Assassin’s Creed III and Far Cry 4 game director Alex Hutchinson, it is no more.

He let the news slip on Twitter, where he shared weeping emojis and nothing else while reminding the project.

Of course, with Hutchinson not being a Ubisoft employee anymore, it’s not official but based on hearsay from his friends at the company.

But, being so close to the goings-up at the development team, we don’t have reason to doubt about the news itself.

On top of that, it only looks legit that Ubisoft took such decision, as their sci-fi portfolio has in the meantime grown a lot bigger thanks to Starlink and the upcoming Beyond Good & Evil 2.
