Super Nintendo Land Coming To Universal Studios Japan In Spring 2020

New information on Nintendo Land in Universal Studios has been revealed, with an official release date of the land in Universal Japan.
Several years ago, Universal Studios announced they were planning to implement a Nintendo-theme land in their parks. The original plan was to have Universal Japan be the first park to have a Super Nintendo Land, and later open up other parks. As a Californian, I have witnessed construction in the Universal Studios Hollywood that could potentially be the new Super Nintendo Land.
Attractions Magazine reported that new information on Super Nintendo Land had come out during the Comcast’s 2019 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference. The CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts, Tom Williams, shared that Super Nintendo Land is coming to all Universal Parks around the world. The exception being Universal Beijing.
Williams also revealed that the first Super Nintendo Land would open at Universal Studios Japan in Spring 2020. The first two rides for the new Land got announced; they are Super Mario Kart and Yoshi’s Adventures. The former comes from the Mario Kart racing games, while the latter is from the Yoshi’s Island games.
They showed off a new, interactive feature for the parks during the conference. These new features are magnetic wristbands where park visitors interact with the environment in Nintendo Land using these devices. It sounds similar to the wands in the Harry Potter Land in Universal Studios Hollywood. The wristbands will have Mario’s iconic hat on them.
The wristband keeps track of the “score” a visitor acquires by interacting with the park. Williams got quoted saying that the scorekeeping interface “back with your game console so you can build on it and come back again.” It sounds as if Williams is trying to infer that the points visitors earn at Super Nintendo Land connects to people’s Nintendo Switch. However, we do not have any concrete details about that, at this time. The way Williams worded it makes it seem slightly ambiguous.

Super Nintendo Land in Universal Japan will open sometime in Spring 2020. It is unknown when Super Nintendo Land will open in other Universal Studio theme parks.
