Sony Won’t Be At E3 2019

PS4 Reaches 100 Million

Out of nowhere, Sony has revealed it won’t be at E3 2019 next June. The news is quite surprising and seems to tease that next-gen plans for PS5 are already in motion.

This’ll be the first time in 25 years that the Japanese platform holder skips the event, which – even though the last showcase hasn’t been phenomenal – is set to have a huge impact on the industry.

“As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community,” the company told Game Informer in a statement.

“PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019.

We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”

PlayStation senior vice president of communications Jennifer Clark has added “we will not activate or hold a press conference around E3,” which means you shouldn’t be anticipating any EA Play-like event, too.

Sure that was unexpected, but hopefully there’s more on our way for PlayStation stuff to happen, whether it’s current or next-gen.
