Iron Galaxy Studios and Modus Games, who first showed off Extinction at E3 2017, are now revealing the official release date.

What is Extinction?

If you haven’t heard of Extinction yet… you’d be forgiven, considering that all the rage right now are Monster Hunter: World and the upcoming God of War. So the market for “Save humanity from being wiped out by giant monster-type bad guys” is pretty jam-packed. That doesn’t mean there isn’t room for more, however, and Iron Galaxy is counting on its game’s skill-based combat to set it apart from the crowd When Extinction releases on April 10, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In Extinction, players take on the role of the hero, Avil. The last of the legendary Sentinels – the only warriors capable of toppling the Ravenii – he is all that stands between the towering ogres and the survival of the human race. Featuring insane skill-based combat that’s not for the squeamish, you’ll have to traverse the environment with precision while executing devastating attacks on your enemies. Use your whip to launch Avil into the air while dispatching a full-scale assault on monstrous beasts who want nothing more than to decimate you and your world.

In preparation for its April 10, 2018 release date, Extinction will make several pre-order perks available at the following retailers:

  • Best Buy – “Short Fuse” trial: Get rewarded when you complete unique objectives in this bonus trial.
  • GameStop – Two exclusive trials titled “Last Legs” and “Heads, You Win”: Work against the clock as you hone your ogre-slaying skills.
  • PlayStation®Store – “Double Trouble” trial: Save humanity before it’s too late in this bonus trial that will test every aspect of your strength, speed, and skill.
  • Microsoft Store – “Brightsteel City” trial: This bonus trial will challenge even the most skillful Sentinel.

Extinction will release at the above retailers or the usual online stores for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2018, and you can find further information at their official website. Oh, and Extinction proudly features no micro-transactions. I’m sad that this has become a feature of games these days, but it is worth mentioning.
