Remedy Teases New Game, Could It Be Alan Wake 2?

Remedy’s creative director Sam Lake has shared a tweet revealing that he has just started working on a “new story.” The project is still its early days, and was labeled as “top secret.” We’re likely to be learning more about it in a couple of years from now.
“I’m in my brand new top-secret writing lair. I am writing a new story,” Lake shared with his followers on Twitter. “You have been warned,” he added, like mentioning that you should be aware that this is a teaser for a new project – and we are.
Lake has a solid track record when it comes to story-based action-adventure titles. He has just penned late August’s Control, the first non-Xbox exclusive game in years from Remedy, published by 505 games, the same Italian label that will take care of Death Stranding‘s PC version.
On top of that, he worked on the first two games in the Max Payne franchises, even providing the titular protagonist with his own face, Alan Wake and Quantum Break, only the latter proving a little underperforming both in terms of sales and critics.
What’s more interesting is that Sam Lake recently shared that the Finnish studio has always tried to revive the Alan Wake franchise between each of its projects. However, the development team failed to come across some story or gameplay loop that could be worthy of it.
With Control just shipped, could it be the right time for another attempt at Alan Wake 2?
The studio recently re-acquired Alan Wake IP rights from Microsoft, and that led to PC, PS4, and Xbox One remaster rumors but, merely looking at this tweet from Lake, there could be room for something more coming to the brand.
Also, the latest title from the Scandinavian development team has been filled with references to Alan Wake and proved to be a somewhat reasonable effort to contain all the stories that the studio has been telling us over the last decade.
