Red Dead Redemption 2 Update Could Bring Players Back to Mexico

Multiple dataminers have found references to Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2‘s game files, as reported by VG247. While significant is never equal to a pre-announce of new content to come, it usually offers clues about what could be next for the open-world and multiplayer titles like Rockstar Games’.
Mexico was a significant portion of the map and played an essential role in the development of the story in the original Red Dead Redemption, but the team at Rockstar Games decided to cut it from its prequel, Red Dead Redemption II, released on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
However, GTA Forums’ VideoTech UK has found 3D models for several Mexican towns in the 1.0 version of the game for PlayStation 4. Those models are deficient quality, though, and might have been put there offer a geographically coherent map or better as a placeholder for future updates to fill them with details.
Dataminer WildBrick142 has found more references, leading to the minimap data being already working and showing on the left of the screen reproduction of structures depicted in the new Mexico location. Codes discovered also hint at Mexico-based bounties.
So, if you consider that there are traces of bounties here, it would look like Rockstar Games might be working on this new Mexico map for Red Dead Online only, as bounties are a big part of that multiplayer experience. A future major update could implement it efficiently.
However, it would seem at least unusual to see the developer locking that additional portion of the map to Red Dead Online. It’s pure speculation at this point, but the original Red Dead Redemption has received the Undead Nightmare expansion, so could a DLC be on its way for Red Dead Redemption 2 as well?
Red Dead Redemption 2 has just been launched on PC and, once all the technical issues encountered throughout the last few weeks will be fully fixed, which is set to happen very soon, Rockstar Games will be looking to its next project. We still don’t know what that could be.
