Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App Hints At PC Version

As you might remember, Red Dead Redemption 2 features an interesting companion app that helps you travel across its huge western open world and more.

You can grab it for free on Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, and it allows among the other things to have the mini-map displayed in real time on your second screen.

Dataminers have used it to find some clues about what Rockstar Games could be making in the future, instead.

And, hidden in the files, they have discovered that the companion app has a reference to a yet to be announced PC version of the game.

Specifically, the lines of codes found by dataminers are:

  • “PARAM_companionAutoConnectIpPC” and “CommandIsPcVersion(void) 000000000166A12C.”

That’s quite explicative and one that even Rockstar might have a hard time in trying and commenting right now.

Anyway, this is not the first time we see RDR2 stuff pointing at a PC version, so we’re not that surprised.

Hopefully, the developer has in its cards the project of bringing the game to the platform in a couple years as it did with GTA V (and not with the original RDR, though).

The game’s now available on PS4 and Xbox One.
