Senior creative writer Michael Unsworth has shared more information about the vision of Rockstar Games for Red Dead Redemption 2, in particular in regards of story and characters.

According to the developer, the idea was to create a full cast of protagonists, so that the stories of each character would look and feel like a main one.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Has A "Big Cast of Main Characters"

“A big cast of main characters was an advantage in many ways…,” Unsworth told Variety.

“It gave us a broad and varied set of perspectives and personalities to draw from and helped create the story we wanted – a gang on the run that functions as its own society, but it also created a lot of complexity.”

“We knew we needed a diverse and interesting mix of characters for Dutch’s gang and the challenge with any big ensemble cast like this is making them all stand out in some way and feel distinct from one another without descending into stereotype,” he added.

In a sort of messianic relationship between Dutch and the members of the van der Linde gang, the story will explore the reasons why each of them has joined the group, and it’ll be quite interesting to learn more about that.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming tomorrow, October 26.

In another interview, co-founder Dan Houser said Rockstar Games is glad to have worked on RDR 2 now and not on a GTA 6, since the Trump era is one you’d have a tough time in trying and doing something satiric.
