We usually don’t receive too much information about PlayStation 5. Still, from time to time, something new arises, and we had the opportunity to learn more about how Sony is handling the development of the platform and of course, its release.

Today, this chance comes from a job ad where the Japanese platform owner makes a very bold statement that PS5 will be the “world’s fastest console” in 2020. The job ad is for a senior cloud engineering manager based in San Francisco.

“You will be managing distributed systems that are powering 100+ million PS4 consoles that deliver immersive gaming experiences,” the ad claims, before jumping on the next-generation topic, where Sony sure looks very confident of what it’s crafting.

“You will also be one of the leaders of an elite team that is super excited to launch the upcoming world’s fastest console (PS5) in 2020. You will love working at PlayStation if you have a strong passion for systems, availability, and resiliency.”

So, we do have some intel about how much powerful PS5 will be. It should be around four times more powerful than the base PS4, on top of implementing tech like ray tracing that is not possible on current-gen hardware. We understand the enthusiasm; could it be, though, that they know something about Project Scarlett that we don’t know yet?

Rumors after E3 2019 already pointed out that PlayStation 5 was going to be more potent than the competitor, even though it was never proved nor sustained by more solid statements that Scarlett was going to repeat the mistake of the original Xbox One.
