An exciting new feature has been announced for Pokemon Sword and Shield in the form of Ranked Battles. You will be able to connect to the internet and take on other Trainers from all over in the world in the Battle Stadium, according to a post on the official Pokemon Sword and Shield website.

Ranked Battles will allow you to take on other trainers to find out exactly where you stack up in the world of Pokemon. Depending on your results, there are several Ranks that you can end up in, from Beginner Tier up to Master Ball Tier. Winning battles will earn you points, and enough points will get you promoted to the next tier. You will even be able to earn items by meeting certain criteria, such as battling multiple times in a row.

You will also be able to take part in Casual Battles, where winning and losing doesn’t matter, and won’t impact your Rank. You will even be able to use certain Legendary and Mythical Pokemon that will not be available in Ranked Battles.

If you want, you can also take part in Official Competitions and Friendly Competitions. Official Competitions will have a variety of different rules and restrictions so that all participants are on an equal footing. Doing well in certain competitions might even get you the chance to compete in the Pokemon Sword and Shield World Championships. Other players will host friendly Competitions, or you can also host them yourself, with the host deciding on what rules to use.

Finally, you will be able to use Rental Teams just by using IDs that will be available online. Rented Battle Teams can be used in various battles, and you will be able to make your own Battle Teams available to other players.
