The Pokémon news keeps coming. With the new trailer and new Pokémon, new information about the purchase bonuses has hit. In the past, Pokémon games rewarded early purchases with special content. Veteran Trainers can recall the days of preorder bonuses. I still have those old coins from Ruby and Sapphire, a Lugia from Soul Silver, and Arceus knows what else I’ve got furreted away from my childhood days of Pokémon training. This generation, Galar rewards players with a series of digital DLC, some of it exclusive to Japan.

Serebii.net noted the new Pokémon Sword and Shield serial code events on their page, detailing the conditions for each. As Serebii notes, all of these will be done through the Mystery Gift feature using the code, requiring none of us to venture into the outside world.

So far, all events begin on release day, November 15, 2019. So get ready to cash in some codes. Looking at the codes available can also help players decide what they want to buy, and in the case of this event, how.

The first code will give players Dynamax crystals for Larvitar and Jangmo-o, allowing them access to the raid battles featuring the two Pokémon. Larvitar will appear in Pokémon Sword and Jangmo-o in Pokémon Shield. Neither Pokémon are available in the two versions outside of the raids and otherwise appear in the later part of the game. These two are only available through the purchase of the Pokémon Sword and Shield double pack. The end date for this code is currently unknown.

Those that purchase either version of the game through the Nintendo eShop will get a code for 12 Quick Balls beginning November 15, 2019, and running until January 15, 2020.

If players purchase it through 7 Net Shopping, they will receive a code for special in-game clothing items: Track Jacket, Track Pants, Sports Leggings, Sports Boston, Sports Cap, and Sports Gloves. The end date for this DLC is currently unknown.

Finally, players in Japan will get their exclusive content. If purchased in Japan, players will get a code for a special gold backpack. The envy of the Pokémon fandom, the gold backpack is a lovely addition to the character. The end date is also currently unknown.

Players should decide how and what they’re planning on purchasing to get the DLC they want. The release date is November 15, 2019, so there’s still time to buy those plane tickets to Japan to get that backpack.
