Pokémon trainers everywhere got a bit of a surprise today with the newly-announced Pokémon Quest for Nintendo Switch and smartphones, which looks more than a little like the popular mobile game Crossy Road

Taking place on the adorable Tumblecube Island, Pokémon will be waiting around each corner for you to find them, all with cute, boxy, cube-like appearances. This free-to-start game will let you battle wild Pokémon, capture them, and power them up utilizing special items called Power Stones. It’s a whole new look for the Pocket Monsters you know and love, but it’s got a certain charm, too.

You can befriend new Pokémon as you make your way across the island if you collect the right “ingredients”—we aren’t quite sure what they are at this point, but it certainly sounds intriguing. The clips shared by the official Pokémon Twitter account showcase some of the more interesting elements the game will possess, but right now, unfortunately, they’re more like tantalizing morsels since we don’t have a chance to actually get our hands on the game.

If you’re curious about trying the game out and what the microtransactions might be like when you’ve “started” the game for free (like Pokémon Picross and other Pokémon games before it), you can actually download it on Nintendo Switch only right now, with mobile versions coming by the end of June. Meanwhile, two additional Pokémon titles have been announced, in the form of a new core RPG coming in the second half of 2019 and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! It’s a great time to be a Poké-fan, that’s for sure.
