Niantic has announced a brand new Rock-type-themed event for Pokémon Go that will see Pokémon like Geodude and Lileep appear more regularly in the wild.

The event will begin on May 24, with Rock-type Pokemon appearing more frequently around the world. Niantic will also be adding unique Field Research missions into the game that will give players exclusive rewards when completed.

The event coincides with the news that Articuno will be available as a Field Research mission reward starting June 1. Articuno will be replacing Zapdos as the main reward for collecting seven stickers in the game’s recently added mission feature. The increase of new themed missions are sure to help trainers towards their goal of unlocking both Zapdos and Articuno over the next few weeks.

Throughout the celebration of all things Rock-type, Niantic is making the trek around your local area a bit sweeter as your Buddy Pokémon will earn Candy four times faster. You’ll also receive ten times the usual amount of XP from spinning Pokéstop locations, giving you the chance to level up quicker than ever before. The bonus will only apply to Pokéstops that you haven’t been to before, however, as Niantic wants fans to go to new places in their quest to catch ’em all.

The event will end on June 5, so get out there and capture everything you see before it’s too late.
